Circles of Power

A Circle is a coopertive effort between three or more Mages who unite to accomplish collectively some task or tasks that is beyond the ability of any one or two working alone.

Circles may be temporary, functioning only until the specific goal is reached, or they may be more lasting and durable in nature.

It is absolutely essential for the success of the Circle’s task, that the Circle have a secure and private place to conduct its affairs.  Since many projects require extended committment, it is essential that the space be available without interruption for the duration.

Because of this need for privacy, many Circles keep their existence a secret and their members often act anonymously.  Those Circles whose existence is known, either maintain secret meeting places or very secure places.

In Velitrium several Circles are common knowledge amongst Mages, but their locations, membership and sizes are known only to members and allies.

The Circle of Law:

This Circle of Mages acts for and under the orders of, the Crown.  It’s Enchanters make many of the items employed by the Army, Avengers and other Royal affiliates.  The exact location of the Circle is a state secret.

The Circle of Light:

These Mages serve the Church of Mitra, employing their powers to aid and enhance the Church, Mitra and those that serve him.  It’s location is a carefully guarded secret.

The Grey Mages:

These Mages serve the Druids, using their magics to aid those who follow the Old Faith. The location of their activities is kept secret.

The Stone Circle:

A group of Mages, both Human and Dwarven, and possibly Gnome, who enchant for the Dwarves.  Though it’s exact location is a guarded secret, it is presumed to be somewhere in the vast Dwarven Citadel.

The following Circles are rumored to exist, those that know the truth do not speak....

The Circle of Darkness:

It is said to be a Circle who serves the Darklore and the High Priest of the Scarlet Cult. It is located, presumably, in Khun Dhagra, probably in the city of Thanos.

The Circle of Blood:

Rumored to be the private Circle of the Arch Mage Grimner.  If it exists it is probably located in his horrific fortress in Khun Dhagra.

The Circle of Silence:

Said to be the largest, continuously operating, non-aligned, private Circle in Velitrium. No one knows who is a member or where it meets
