SWORDS
Cheap= 40% of regular price, will break 2/3 of the time on a
parry.
Good= regular price, will break 1/3 of the time on a parry.
Fine= also called "Duke Grade" 10x regular price will break
only 1/6 of the time on a parry. Does an extra +1 of
damage.
Very Fine= also called "Prince Grade" 20x regular price will
not break on a parry. Does an extra +2 of
damage. Only Dwarves can make this grade weapon.

NOTES:
Falchion's are short sword length, slightly curved single edged blades with a thick spine. The extra weight adds increased power to slashing attacks.
Scimitar is a larger single edged weapon that does damage as a thrusting broadsword.
Boar spears have a cross bar 6 to 10 inches in length that prevents an impaled animal or opponent from forcing its way up the shaft. Widely used in hunting, boar spears do not fly well because of the cross bar.
Dwarven Hammers have an ax blade on one face and a hammer head on the other.
The Halfling Bow, sometimes called ‘Goblin Bows’ are called such because they are most frequently associated with these races (Mountain Goblins.) Technically they are Short Bows and are manufactured and widely available throughout Velitrium. They are popular with Horse Archers for their small size and ease of handling.
The Elvish Bow is a size commonly used by the Minfolan Elves, but conforms to the stats for a Regular Bow and human made examples can be found throughout Velitrium, though they are most common in Argentium and Ferramentium.
The Long Bow is primarily a human weapon, the best examples come from either the Western forests of Gemmatus, or the Frontier. The bows have minor style differences which have no effect on performance, but archers often have strongly held preferences for one over the other.
Crossbows & Prods. These are extremely popular throughout Velitrium. Simple to use, easy to manufacture and not requiring extensive physical conditioning for optimum performance. Prods have the additional advantage of being cheap to shoot, rounded pebbles can be substituted for lead bullets. (Using stones reduces damage by 2.) One or the other can be found in most homes throughout the Valley. Size, style, quality and strength varies widely. It is generally held that the best Crossbows are made by the Dwarves. These cost 4x the listed price and have 20% greater range. The next best are held to be those made in Glenluce, which due to its proximity to Dwarfdale, attracts many skilled human craftsmen. These typically cost 2x listed price and can have 10% greater range.
The listed Crossbow and Prod have a Strength of 10. Increasing the ST of the weapon increases the price slightly. Each additional point of ST adds $10 to the price. Crossbow and Prod strengths range from 10 to 30. (The maximum damage a Crossbow with a ST of 30 can do is 3d.)
Cocking a crossbow or prod is done in one of several ways.
By Hand:
A crossbow or Prod with a Strength no more than 2 greater than the user's can be cocked by hand.
Goat's Foot:
A crossbow or prod with a Strength more than 3 greater than the user's requires a Goat's Foot to cock.
Windlass:
A crossbow or prod with a Strength more than 5 greater than the user's requires a windlass to cock. The Windlass is built into the crossbow and adds $100 to the weapons cost, this is in addition to the cost of the weapon's extra strength and 4lbs to the weight.
