Secrets of the Church

Though the Church teaches that Mitra created the world, or at least shaped it, and that He gave Man free will.  They know in truth that this is not true.  Mankind existed long before the coming of Mitra, as did all things of the world.

Blar came from the Void…….
He brought with him His Legion.
He fled the Slayer and his Host.
The Battle had gone on forever, but an end was near….
Here, in the stars above the New World, the Beast readied for the Final conflict.
The Beast was cunning and wise in the ways of his Enemy. Many times had they fought, but here it would end.
The Battle would be joined on the surface, thus did the Beast array his Minions.
Blar had chosen the battlefield with care; the Slayer would be weak here, hindered by the lives of the Mortals he would wish to spare.  Blar gloated, confident of victory.
Though confident, Blar was ever cunning. His Life, his very essence, he hid elsewhere. In the heart of the lessor of the two moons that circled the New World far above the surface, above the field of battle….

Mitra came from the Void….
He brought with him his Host.
He pursued the Beast and his Legion.
He came to Slay Blar as he had slain all the others.
The Battle had gone on forever, but an end was near….
In the stars above the New World, the Slayer readied for the Final Conflict.
Mitra saw what Blar had prepared, he saw the sparks of young life that dotted the World and he knew sorrow at the loss that the battle portended.
Mitra arrayed his Host and drew close to slay the Beast. He looked upon the Beast and his Dark Legion and saw there that all was not as it seemed.

Mitra’s powers were greater than Blar could know. He saw, and behold! The trap was laid bare before the Battle was joined.
Mitra cast about and sensed Blar’s life, hidden deep in the Lessor Moon.
Sensing Mitra’s awareness, the Demon surged upwards, his Legion with him, but Mitra’s thought was deed and his power turned on the Moon. He struck and the Moon vanished in a flare of light that will be visable for a thousand centuries.

As the Moon broke, so did Blar’s Life.  Broken, but not destroyed.
With his Life scattered Blar’s form dispelled.  Their Master unseated, the Legion broke. Pursued by the Host they fled to Secret and Forgotten places to await their Master’s return.

Mitra surveyed the New World and the young life spared the Destruction, the sky above their world glowed with a shower of falling stars, as the ashes of the shattered Moon rained down upon the World. Only then did Mitra percieve the fullness of Blar’s plan.

The rain of stars did contain Blar’s Life.
From the finest dust grain to the largest boulder, each piece held a bit of the Demon’s Essence.
It rained down upon the World, it fell into the Sea, where it was swallowed by the fish.
It fell into the lakes and rivers, where it was drunk by the beasts.
It fell onto the Land, where it was taken up along with food, by every living thing.
Thus did darkness come to the World.

This then was Mitra’s dilemma….
To destroy Blar, Mitra must destroy the Demon’s Life or his Body.
To destroy the Demon’s Life, Mitra must destroy all Life upon the World.
To destroy the Demon’s body, Mitra must gather Blar’s Life from the World.
Mitra looked upon the World and he saw what befell. Mitra waited….

So it came to pass that the Essence of Blar came to be harbored in the being of every living thing upon the World.
Such was the nature of things that more Essence came to be in some things and less in others. As like attracts like, so came it to pass that those beings with more Essence drew in ever more and the Darkness began to grow.

Such is the power of Blar that as the Darkness grew, the Legion began to creep back from the Secret Places and Evil began to spread across the World.
This Mitra saw and he sorrowed, but still he waited.

It came to pass that beings of the World, corrupted by the Darkness, harnessed the Power to spread more Darkness.
Thus were the Ancient Dragon Kings bent to evil, and even the Children of the Light, the Eldred were touched by the Darkness. While the Dwarf Lords, deep beneath their mountains, turned to greed and avarice.
But the Mortal races suffered most. It was they who gave themselves fully to the Darkness, they who wallowed in the Power of Evil and lost their souls to Blar’s Legion.
This Mitra saw, and he perceived the danger.

Should the strength of the Legion become too great, then, when Blar has been restored, the power of the Darkness may extinguish the Light.
This too the Legion saw, and they began to gather in the souls of those turned by Blar’s power.
And the Legion set their servants to the task of gathering together all that could be found of their Master’s Essence.
From the deepest Abyss to the highest peak, Servants of the Darkness began to search and the Dark Ones began to plan.

And Mitra saw these things and knew of the danger.
Mitra came down to the World and walked amongst the Mortals, revealing himself to many, speaking to some, touching others.  He showed them the Way of Light and gave them Hope and a Sign…
Thus was the Church born.

From the Book of Parn Mitras, Chapter IV

In the days of the World, after Mitra scattered Blars life, the Avatars of Mitra walked upon the World seeking allies in the stuggle against the Legion and the Darkness.
The Avatars came thus unto the Velitar and offered them a special place in the heart of Mitra. “Become our Voice! Become our Hand! Weild the Sword of Light and defeat the Darkness lest it consume you utterly!” They cried unto the People and their Lords.
And the Lords of the Velitar didst confer amongst themselves and they spoke with the Avatars and didst make the Pact and swear their Allegiance for the good of the People.
And the People Rejoiced for the Strength of Mitra would shield them forever from the Darkness of Blar
